The BIM methodology, Building Information Modeling, Building Information Modeling, Building Information Modeling or simply BIM is a collaborative work methodology for the design and management of building and civil works projects. This methodology centralizes all the information of a project in a digital model developed by all its agents.

The buildingSMART is a non-profit association whose main objective is to promote efficiency in the construction sector through the use of open standards of interoperability on BIM or OpenBIM), according to this association, BIM is a management system for construction works that is based on the use of a virtual three-dimensional model linked to databases. This makes it possible to produce and store all the information needed to operate in the different phases of the construction life cycle.

The BIM objects of the virtual models can be connected to one or several database records and allow storing information of the built spaces, elements, materials, means and resources involved in their management.

Meanwhile, BIM methodologies allow the agents of the construction process to generate knowledge and share it in a fully collaborative environment to make all aspects of buildings or infrastructures more efficient.

We can work on any project anywhere in the world. Right now, from our offices in Spain, we are working on two projects in the Dominican Republic: The Oceana projecta large tourist complex consisting of 10 residential buildings, a gastronomic market, hotel, theater, beach club, swimming pools, etc. With 35,000 m2 of surface where TALAT develops the Build & Design with BIM methodology in coordination with its local partners. Currently in the execution project phase; And the Harbour Bay projectThe building is located in a privileged location, with all the necessary amenities (private swimming pools, dock, gym, community pools, etc.) with 32,000 m2 of surface area, where TALAT also develops the Build & Design with BIM methodology. Currently in basic project phase.

What is considered the first paper on BIM as we know it today was published in 1975 by Professor Chuc Eastman, describing a prototype called Building Description System (BDS) that successfully created a building database, which would improve drafting and analysis efficiency and reduce design costs by more than fifty percent. Until then, BIM was more of an idea than an actual technology, which has been developing and evolving by leaps and bounds since the 1980s.

Today it is already a reality and a fundamental pillar of our work methodology.
